ASD DISTRICT WIDE IT NETWORK REFURBISHMENT

Anchorage School District
Anchorage, Alaska
RSA Engineering, Inc. provided electrical engineering and design services for this project, which included developing a design/build RFP for an upgrade of the existing telecommunications network infrastructure at approximately 105 ASD sites with a total of over 300 telecommunication closets. Specifically, this included new network routers, switches, wireless controllers and access points in each school. Most sites will have a new fiber backbone installed, which will support 10-Gigabit Ethernet applications. Floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, and equipment schedules were developed for each site, along with technical specs for the network equipment. The design also included the installation of additional circuits in communication closets to support added power requirements of PoE switches, as well as the installation of additional telecom racks for the new equipment. RSA also helped review and score the proposals submitted in response to the RFP. Roger Weese, P.E. was the project manager for this project. Estimated Construction Cost: $10.5 Million Period of Performance: 2009-2011
